ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING & COUNTERING FINANCING OF TERRORISM

Businesses that deal in high-value assets, or assist clients to buy and own high-value assets, will themselves have reporting entity (RE) duties under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Act).  An RE’s duties under the AML/CFT Act are complex and must be assessed by bespoke, risk-based analysis.  Compliance is non-negotiable and is enforced by government authorities. Fines and penalties for non-compliance are severe.
